"No, you can’t have any more pets, there is more then enough animals as it is."
the worst part about achilles’ death for me is that i don’t think connor was even away on a mission or anything when it happened. i always felt like he’d been back for a few days and was taking care of achilles, making sure he felt okay and everything, but had to go run a few errands - not in boston, not in new york, still at the homestead, but not in the house. so he goes out and achilles is just taking a nap when he leaves, no big deal, right? but then he comes back and he’s got something to eat for the both of them so he goes to wake achilles up and he just doesn’t. at some point in the ten, maybe twenty minutes that connor wasn’t in the house achilles died.
and it just kills connor because that’s why he was there. he was there so that he could be by achilles’ side in case anything happened. he put aside all of this assassin work, all of the more important things that he had to do just to take care of achilles and make sure he wouldn’t be alone when it happened and then connor goes out and it’s all for nothing. achilles dies alone in his chair in that big house even though connor could have been there. he should have been there. but he got hungry and they didn’t have much in the house so he went over to get something from corrine and oliver, not thinking anything would happen in that short time. but it does. the worst thing that could possibly happen happens and for a while he just keeps telling himself that if he hadn’t gone out, achilles would have lived a little longer because that’s just how his luck works.
((I love this idea but personally, I’m sure Achilles would have sent him away. He didn’t have the heart to tell Connor what he thought or felt, leaving them all in a letter.
Achilles had to watch his own family die in front of him and probably knows Connor saw his mothers death. He wouldn’t of wanted Connor to see his finally moments either. I want to believe he would have sent Connor away anyhow.
